What about Sakura? As canon would have it, Tomoyo holds the strongest feelings of affections for Sakura. Although she technically confesses to Sakura, Sakura unknowingly accepts Tomoyo's love as strong feelings of friendship and returns those feelings. The reality of this unreciprocrated love is that Sakura loves Syaoran, and he loves her as well. So where does Tomoyo get out of this?

"Sakura's happiness is my happiness."

It may not be shockingly direct, but anyone can conclude that Tomoyo cares deeply for Sakura. CLAMP doesn't outright call Tomoyo a lesbian or even a bisexual, what have you... but it's obvious. CLAMP excels in creating relationships that require no labels, as if such a universe existed in which gender or species play no barrier in romance. Some may interpret Tomoyo's obsession with Sakura's adventures and wardrobe as sisterly affections, but I personally feel that Tomoyo deeply loves Sakura. Although she may be direct in her feelings, it's probably because she knows that Sakura could never feel the same way about her, so she dotes on Sakura in every imaginable way. In this aspect, Tomoyo's feelings for Sakura seems absolutely pure albeit unrealistic. And for someone as young as Tomoyo, she's oddly selfless about her emotions. Tomoyo happily attempts to tie the strings of Sakura's fate with Syaoran's with no imposition of her own feelings for Sakura. For all of Tomoyo's efforts, it's disappointing to witness Sakura remaining oblivious to way Tomoyo looks at her, but perhaps it would be harder on Sakura, not being able to return anything other than a friendly love.
