Gankutsuou is an anime based on Le Comte de Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. The story centers around one man's revenge against all those that tore him away from his love, stripped him of the happy life he lived and threw him into a long life in prison.The anime doesn't exactly follow the book but it's very amazing in its own way. No one can expect anything less from GONZO. The animation is unique and very beautiful. The characters are well-developed and each episode is packed with nothing but suspense.
As for Baron Franz d'Epinay, he is the best friend of Albert, the main character in the Gankutsuou anime. He is introduced in the first episode and throughout the entire series, he maintains a special loyalty to all of his companions, especially to Albert. His insight into matters leaves him to be one who is unbiased because he is not susceptible to admiring other people.
Franz is very cautious in who he puts his trust in, and when he tries to dig up the truth surrounding the Count, he finds himself in a hole that Albert is reeled into as well. Being the faithful companion that he is, he sacrifices himself for Albert and thus, his leave inside the series leaves many viewers in tears.

The title of this fanlisting is credited to Catie. I don't know much French. Spanish, I do know though. Thanks to Catie, her weird sense of humor and her love of the French language, I was able to give Franz's fanlisting a cute and funny title. Ha!
