A josei series by Tomoko Ninomiya, Nodame Cantabile breaks out from the mold with its heartfelt and comedic storyline which mixes a romantic comedy within a world of music. Nodame Cantabile first introduces Chiaki Shinichi, an accomplished musician, perfectionist, and somewhat of an egomaniac. He aspires to become a conductor and follow in the path of his mentor, but achievement of his goal is hindered by his phobia of flight and the sea. Then, there's Noda Megumi. Usually called "Nodame", she's a carefree and bubbly character, compared to Chiaki. Not quite the perfectionist, Nodame plays the piano by ear quite sloppily but manages to make no mistakes. The two of them are quite the opposite from one another in almost every aspect. When Nodame falls in love with Chiaki, hilarity and character development ensue.

One admirable quality of the series is that the whole plot is not wholly centered around love but the directions people take in life and why. It has its serious moments as well as its laughable ones. Plus, there's always at least one character people can relate to. (Or at least I'm hoping so.) A drama series starring Tamaki Hiroshi and Ueno Juri ran from October 15, 2006 to December 25, 2006, spanning eleven episodes in total. The manga is ongoing, and the anime has been announced for January 11, 2007.

A fanlisting is a website that allows people to join and show their love for a certain subject. Visitors basically sign up and their name shows on the members list. There's nothing more to that.
